Ask: Ask Congress to fund $761 million for CDC Injury Center
While the President’s budget proposed to eliminate the Injury Center, the Senate Appropriations Committee rejected that request. In late July, it passed its FY26 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations bill, which funds the Injury Center at $761 million, maintaining FY25 levels.
This is a huge victory, won from our collective efforts to promote the Injury Center’s impact in communities across the country.
Our work isn’t done.
As the appropriations process advances in Congress, we must make sure that Congress firmly rejects the President's proposed elimination of the Injury Center.
Here’s what you can do
While members of Congress are back at home in their districts during August, we must use that time to communicate to them the importance of maintaining the $761 million allocated to the Injury Center. Members of Congress must support the Senate Appropriations version of the FY26 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations bill
This is what we need you to do:
1. Schedule an in-district or virtual meeting with your members of Congress
Use our talking points to advocate for continued funding.
Bring along your state fact sheet that includes specific Injury Center funding amounts for your state.
If you can’t meet in person, be sure to email and call your members using our templates.
2. Advocate for the Injury Center on social media with our toolkit
Use our social media toolkit as a way to contact your members of Congress to let them know the impact of the freeze.
