Tell Congress to fully fund the Injury Center

While the President’s budget proposal eliminated the Injury Center, the Senate Appropriations Committee rejected that request. In late July, it passed its FY26 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations bill, which funds the Injury Center at $761 million, maintaining FY25 levels.

This was a huge victory, won from our collective efforts to share the impact the work of the Injury Center has in our communities.

Our work isn’t done. We must make sure the Senate and House of Representatives adopts this version of the budget.

ALERT: A crucial program called Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) which is housed within the CDC Injury Center, is now at risk with cuts of $140 million, over half the program’s budget. Advocates like us must urgently raise voices to save this essential, life saving program.

Use this toolkit to speak up now and take action. You will find talking points for meeting with your Members of Congress as well as social media posts to use.

How you can make a difference

While members of Congress are back at home in their districts during August, we must use that time to urge them to adopt the Senate Appropriation Committee’s version of the FY26 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations bill. To do this, we need to continue to talk them about why the Injury Center is important to their constituents and how the funds are used in the communities they represent.

This is what we need you to do:

  1. Meet with your Members of Congress in person or virtually while they’re back home during August break.

  2. Use our online digital tools to spread the word on social media and email.

Advocate for the Injury Center on social media with our toolkit

  • Post to LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and other platforms to encourage people to contact their members of Congress about the critical work on the Injury Center.

  • Use social media as a way to contact your members of Congress to let them know the Injury Center work is important.

Want to do more? After you meet with your Members of Congress, you can email or call them. You can also have your friends, family, and networks call and email their Members too! Use our phone and email scripts
