Overdose Data to Action Funding at Risk by State
A program called Overdose Data to Action (OD2A), housed in the CDC Injury Center, is a cooperative agreement that provides funding to 90 state and local health departments to provide essential support for fentanyl and opioid overdose response efforts.
This crucial program is at risk due to the Trump administration's delay and possible cancellation of approximately $140 million in grants - over half of the program’s budget.
OD2A has been a critical lifeline, providing data-driven tools and resources to combat the opioid epidemic.
The results speak for themselves. In 2024, overdose deaths across the nation dropped by 27%, a major public health victory made possible in part by this very program.
